Working in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Society to help people affected by dementia
Supporting a more proactive approach to dementia care.
Circadacare is part of the Alzheimer’s Society Accelerator Programme, supporting the development of innovative technology designed around the needs of people affected by dementia.
Circadacare combines dynamic circadian lighting with intelligent, privacy-conscious monitoring to proactively support wellbeing, provide useful care insights and help people remain independent for longer.

Why Alzheimer’s Society backed Circadacare
Recognising the potential to make a meaningful difference

Many care technologies monitor activity and flag changes. Circadacare goes a step further.
Alzheimer’s Society chose to work in collaboration with Circadacare because our technology addresses an important gap in dementia care with evidenced outcomes improving quality of life and extending independent living.
Circadian lighting has been proven to reduce falls, and though our own deployments with Medway Council and Kyndi, we have been able to ease sundowning within 7-21 days, reduce nighttime disturbances and extend independent living, delivering better care outcomes while saving the local authority £16.54 for every £1 invested.
Together, Circadacare and the Alzheimer’s Society are working to help the people that would benefit the most access this technology.

Circadian Lighting
Designed to reflect natural changes in light throughout the day and support daily routines.
Privacy-conscious monitoring
Understands usual patterns of activity without relying on intrusive cameras.
Useful Care Insights
Helps highlight meaningful changes that may require further attention.
Supporting independence for longer
Better outcomes for people.
More sustainable care for providers.
Helping people remain safely supported at home for longer can improve quality of life while also reducing pressure on already stretched care services.
By combining proactive circadian lighting with intelligent monitoring, Circadacare can help care teams identify changes earlier, support wellbeing day to day and respond before needs become more complex.
For care providers and Local Authorities, that creates the potential to:
-
Reduce avoidable escalation into higher levels of care
-
Lower the cost of increasingly intensive support
-
Help people remain independent at home for longer
-
Give carers better insight into changing needs
-
Support a better quality of life for people living with dementia
The aim is a more proactive model of care that supports people earlier while helping commissioners manage long-term care costs more effectively.
‘We are actively looking to deploy Technology Enabled Care solutions which enable people to live in their own homes for longer, whilst saving money.
Using Circadacare is helping us to achieve these cost savings, which is improving the quality-of-care provision in the Medway area.’

How does Circadacare work?

Circadian lighting supports day and night routines
Dynamic lighting changes throughout the day to create a more appropriate environment for daytime activity and evening rest.

Intelligent sensors understand normal routines
Monitoring integrated within the lighting develops an understanding of everyday activity.

Meaningful changes can be highlighted
Care teams can access useful information that may help them identify when further support is needed.
Built around people affected by dementia
One of the important parts of the Accelerator Programme is Circadacare’s opportunity to work alongside people affected by dementia and care providers.
This helps ensure the technology continues to develop around real experiences, real care environments and the needs of the people who will ultimately use it.
